What is the difference between core alignment and cladding alignment fusion splicers?
Core alignment actively lines up the light-carrying cores of the two fibers using cameras and motorized positioning, while cladding alignment only aligns the outer glass. Core alignment produces lower, more consistent splice loss, which is why professional FTTH and backbone work requires it. The KEFOK6 is a true 6-motor core-alignment splicer.
What splice loss should a good fusion splicer achieve?
A quality core-alignment splicer achieves typical splice loss of 0.02 dB or lower on single-mode fiber. The KEFOK6 meets that 0.02 dB figure and aligns across SM, MM, DS and NZDS fiber types.
How long does a fusion splice take?
